What an AI receptionist is

An AI receptionist is a voice agent that answers a business's phone calls the way a front-desk person would. It greets the caller in the business's name, answers common questions from the business's own information, books or changes appointments, and takes messages for the owner, at any hour. Unlike voicemail, the caller gets an answer or a booked time during the call.

The AERIOX AI receptionist is set up and run by AERIOX, a company in Jupiter, Florida. A person on our team builds it with you from your business's facts, your prices and your calendar, and it stays inside the limits you set. See how it compares in AI receptionist vs. answering service.

What it does on a call

  1. Answers in your business's name, day or night, and opens with "This call may be recorded."
  2. Speaks the caller's language. Every voice speaks English and Spanish, and follows the caller.
  3. Answers questions from your own information: your hours, services and service area, and only the prices you give it. It never guesses; anything else becomes a note for you.
  4. Books, moves or cancels appointments in your Google Calendar, only in the appointment types, lengths, hours and service area you set. It checks the calendar before it offers a time, and never confirms a time it hasn't re-checked and saved. If you book through Square, Booksy or another platform, it emails callers your booking link instead.
  5. Takes a detailed message when it can't help or the caller asks for you: name, number, address, the job and how soon. It flags it urgent for you when the caller says it can't wait.
  6. Emails you after every call it answers, with any booking or message in full. Every call is also listed in your portal, with its number, time, length and outcome.

It tells callers it's an AI whenever they ask. It never claims to be human, and never pretends to be you.

What it doesn't do

  • It doesn't connect callers to you live; it takes a message for a call back.
  • It doesn't make outbound calls, and it doesn't text callers.
  • It doesn't keep recordings of calls.
  • It isn't an emergency service and doesn't dispatch anyone. It flags urgent calls for you to call back.
  • It doesn't sync with field-service or CRM software. It books into Google Calendar, or emails callers your booking link.
  • It takes up to 2 calls at a time, up to 10 minutes a call. A caller past that hears a short message asking them to call back, and we usually email you their number.

Who it's for

Local service businesses whose phone rings while the owner or crew is on a job, under a sink or behind the chair. Most callers won't wait for a voicemail: in a CallRail survey of 1,000 US consumers (2025), 82% said they'd try a competitor after an unanswered call. A CallRail benchmark cited by Plumber magazine puts the share of calls home-service businesses miss at about 14%. More in what missed calls cost.

Plans and prices

Voice plans are priced by how busy your phone is. Every plan answers 24/7 in English and Spanish, books and emails you every call, and includes setup. The first month is paid upfront; after that it's month to month, cancel anytime.

How setup works

  1. Book a 15-minute call. We hear how your calls come in today, answer your questions, and pick the plan that fits.
  2. We build it with you in 2 to 5 business days: your business facts, the questions callers ask, the appointments it can book, and your calendar.
  3. We test it and tell you the day it's live. It starts answering that day.
  4. You forward your calls when you can't pick up, after hours, or all the time. No new phone or app, and one code turns forwarding off.
  5. Changes are an email. New hours or prices, just tell us.

Questions owners ask

What does an AI receptionist from AERIOX cost?
Voice plans run from $99 to $499 a month, by how many call minutes you need, with setup included. Minutes count only while the agent is on a call. Past your plan's minutes, calls use prepaid credit at 49¢ a minute.
Will callers know it's an AI?
It tells callers it's an AI whenever they ask, and it never claims to be human or pretends to be you. It opens every call with "This call may be recorded."
Can it connect a caller to me?
No. It doesn't connect callers to you live; it takes a message for a call back. The message is emailed to you, marked urgent when the caller says it can't wait.
Does it work if I book through Square or Booksy?
Yes. It emails callers your booking link, and they book there; AERIOX doesn't write into those platforms. It books directly only into Google Calendar. On Outlook or another calendar, ask us first.
How soon can it start answering my calls?
After a 15-minute call, AERIOX builds it with you in 2 to 5 business days, tests it, and tells you the day it's live. It starts answering that day, on the calls you forward to it.
