An AI receptionist for plumbers

AERIOX sets up an AI receptionist for plumbing companies that answers every call, day and night, in English or Spanish. It asks what's leaking or clogged, gets the name and address, books the service call or estimate into your Google Calendar inside the hours you set, and emails you every call, marking burst pipes and backups urgent. You keep your number. Plans start at $99 a month.

Why plumbing calls go to voicemail

A plumber's hands are busy when the phone rings. You're under a sink, in a crawl space, or cutting into a slab, and the call that comes in is a homeowner with water on the floor. They don't leave a message. They call the next plumber on the list.

The numbers back that up. A CallRail benchmark cited by Plumber magazine puts the share of calls home-service businesses miss at about 14%. In a CallRail survey of 1,000 US consumers (2025), 82% said they'd try a competitor after an unanswered call, and only 42% leave a voicemail at all.

Plumbing calls also don't keep office hours. Water heaters quit on Sunday morning. Drains back up the night before a holiday dinner. A supply line under a vanity lets go at 11 PM.

What the AI receptionist does on a plumbing call

  1. Answers in your company's name, on the first ring, and opens with "This call may be recorded."
  2. Asks what your office would ask: is water actively leaking, is it a drain, a fixture, the water heater or the main line, is it a house or a business, what's the address, how soon do they need someone.
  3. Books the right kind of visit into your Google Calendar: a service call, a drain cleaning, a water heater estimate, a repipe or remodel estimate. Only the appointment types, lengths, hours and service area you set, and only after checking the time is still open.
  4. Takes a message when the caller wants you, or when the job is something you don't book over the phone, and marks it urgent when the caller says it can't wait.
  5. Emails you the booking or message in full, minutes after the call. Every call is also listed in your portal at app.aeriox.co.

It quotes only the prices you give it, such as your service-call or trip fee, or a flat rate for a drain cleaning. It never guesses at the cost of a repair. Anything else becomes a note for you.

A sample late-night leak call

AIThanks for calling Inlet Plumbing. This call may be recorded. How can I help?

CallerA pipe under my kitchen sink burst. Water's everywhere.

AII'm sorry. Is water still coming out right now?

CallerLess now, but it's still dripping and the cabinet's soaked.

AIGot it. Can I get your name, the address, and the best number to reach you?

CallerDave Ruiz, 88 Sand Pine Court. (561) 555-0147.

AIThanks, Dave. I've sent this to the team marked urgent, with your address and what's happening, so they can call you back at (561) 555-0147.

Inlet Plumbing is a fictional business. The owner gets an email marked urgent with Dave's name, number, address and the job.

What to give it, and where it stops

Setup starts with a 15-minute call. Then AERIOX builds the agent with you in 2 to 5 business days. For a plumbing shop, that means:

  • Your service area, by town or ZIP, so it doesn't book a job two counties over.
  • Your hours, and which jobs it can book after hours versus take as a message.
  • Your appointment types and lengths: a 1-hour service call, a 30-minute estimate, whatever you actually run.
  • The prices you're willing to say on the phone, and nothing more.

And the limits, plainly:

  • It doesn't troubleshoot or give repair advice. It gathers what the plumber needs to know.
  • It doesn't connect callers to you live, and it doesn't text anyone. A caller who wants you gets a message taken for a call back.
  • It takes up to 2 calls at once. A third caller hears a short message asking them to call back.
  • It tells callers it's an AI whenever they ask, and never pretends to be you.

What it costs for a plumbing company

Voice plans are priced by how busy your phone is, not per seat. Every plan answers 24/7, books and emails you every call, and includes setup. The first month is paid upfront; after that it's month to month. Minutes count only while the agent is on a call.

PlanPer monthMinutesCalendars
Starter$993001
Solo$1997501
Crew (most popular)$2991,200Up to 3
Company$4992,500Up to 10

A one-truck plumber who runs the jobs and the phone usually fits Solo. A shop with a few plumbers on the road fits Crew: up to 3 calendars, so it can book by plumber. See all plans or what an AI receptionist costs.

Questions owners ask

Can an AI receptionist handle emergency plumbing calls at night?
It answers them and takes the caller's name, number, address and what's leaking, then emails it to you marked urgent so you or your on-call plumber can call back. It doesn't dispatch anyone or connect the caller to you live.
Will it tell customers how much a repair costs?
Only the prices you give it, such as a service-call fee or a flat drain-cleaning rate. It never guesses at a repair price; anything else becomes a note for you.
Can it book water heater and repipe estimates?
Yes. You tell it which estimate types it can book, how long each takes, and your hours and service area, and it books them into your Google Calendar after checking the time is open.
Does it speak Spanish?
Yes. Every voice speaks English and Spanish and follows the caller, so a homeowner who starts in Spanish gets the whole call in Spanish.
Do I have to change my business number?
No. You keep your number and forward calls to the agent when you can't pick up, after hours, or all the time. One code turns forwarding off.
